Who reads them?

I'm a huge fan of political blogs.

But the real reason why I write this is that I got a mention in two of the best and most popular Aussie right wing blogs in the business, Arthur Chrenkoff and Tim Blair

That is pretty damned good. Well, it is great for me anyway.

The issue? ABC Media Watch once again being a blatant means of attack for the journalist left on anyone who has conservative views. Using my taxes.

This is the bit where I get a mention:

Quote:
You’ll note that throughout this attack Media Watch hasn’t once sought to challenge any of Chrenkoff’s Good News. It simply aims to bring down Chrenkoff, a conservative whose views aren’t acceptable to Media Watch. As reader Cheesie writes: “Privatise the ABC. Right now. Even better, force it to work on Chrenkoff’s budget and see how far they get. By the way; will George Gregan hurry up and retire, please?”

I don't read any blogs. I may start now.

I just don't see a problem with shows being left. It is a Democracy and a country with freedom of speech.

I like Media Watch. I find the attack the media without fear or favour. I've seen them point out errors in the Fairfax press and the ABC (among other lefite organisations). NOT TO MENTION THAT GREAT THEME MUSIC! They don't attack people for what they say. They attack people for their methods. Fair enough for me.

And speaking of budgets, I read somewhere the ABC has a budget around a third the size that a commerical organisation would if it had a similar audience (looking at possible advertising revenue). I think that's quite efficient of them.

Cheesie, you crafty bugger...

I read Chris Sheil's Back Pages every day during the last federal election. It was pro-ALP and then pro-Kerry when it was the US's turn. It was (is?) a pretty intelligent and insightful forum, but it and my interest waned after the election result...there are only so many heartbreaks you can handle...until the next one!!

Its good for the non-rabid lefties out there.

But my favourite blog is Arseblog - http://www.arseblog.com/index.php - written by an Irish Gooner living in Barcelona.

1. Media Watch has quite consistently put much more focus on News Corp than any other media group and conservative columnists more than any other ilk.

2. I don't mind left wing shows at all. What I object too is the overwhelming left-wing bias of the ABC that I pay for. I wouldn't mind if it was privatised.

That is what I am getting at.

News Ltd owns so much of Australia's media. Accordingly it gets so much attention. Also, the "bias" you pay for is better perceived as independence.

I guess we ought to agree to disagree.

Not I - no time. But good luck on your venture. Never know, might even check in from time to time.

How about you have a new thread on 'General Discussion entitled 'Media WatchWatch', and you can update us weekly on its latest dastardly deeds?

It is part of the plan for my blog.
