Re: AFL 2012
Article in The Australian today releases TV viewing for all football codes. With all games on Foxtel this year, AFL increased its pay TV by 30 mill. Total figure for 2012 = 123 mill. Nearest to that was NRL with under 114 mill - an increase of just 419,000. SR 8 mill (-1 mill) & ALeague 9.5 mill (+2 mill)

Wes Mantooth: That's completely uncalled for, Burgundy. You know those rating systems are flawed. They don't take in account houses that have, uh, more than two television sets, and other things of that nature.IanRitchie wrote:that's the real story. forget your rugby league pissing contest.nobleoz wrote: SR 8 mill (-1 mill)

Re: AFL 2012
If you add up global TV audiences for each of the competitions (AFL, NRL, SR and A-League), then I suspect SR wins that easily. And before anyone tries to argue that's irrelevant, it's not if you're an advertiser.IanRitchie wrote:that's the real story. forget your rugby league pissing contest.nobleoz wrote: SR 8 mill (-1 mill)
Nonetheless, the ARU would be concerned and the FFA would be delighted.

Port announced a $2.1m operating loss this season, after a special grant from SANFL of $2m on turnover of $36.6m.

I was looking through the AFL Annual Report 2011 earlier and saw a special allocation to GCS of $16.8m. Will be interesting to see where they stand in 2012 and how GWS fared. Starting up a club is not cheap.

And yet nines continues to peddle the myth that the GCS turned a "profit" in its first season.

they did. if you take away one off expenses, player salaries, venue hire, free tickets, and basically every other expense.Simmo79 wrote:And yet nines continues to peddle the myth that the GCS turned a "profit" in its first season.

Just like the other football clubs who make profits after stripping "one off" expenses that occur on an annual basis, such as sacking a member of the football department. But this year it's different I swear.IanRitchie wrote:they did. if you take away one off expenses, player salaries, venue hire, free tickets, and basically every other expense.Simmo79 wrote:And yet nines continues to peddle the myth that the GCS turned a "profit" in its first season.
