Live channel 7 coverage gives the fans what they want - the ability to mute the television and listen to Triple M.

Live games the real winner is online betting updates you will get changing odds each add break.

I miss watching SOO and listening to HG and Roy on the J's....it is still the best way to watch test cricket muted tv and grandstand now they are both Digital

Admittedly I was only half listening, however there was some talk of the rights on the AFL Footy Show last night and the suggestion from Garry Lyon seemed to be that 9's bid was way off the pace, so it looks like we'll be left with 7 for the foreseeable future.

Seven paid about $475 million for four weekly free-to-air matches from 2012-16, while Foxtel coughed up more than $575 million for five games, as well as simulcast rights to all of Seven's matches.

It's a 13% increase in TV income per game. Not bad at all.

Does anyone know if it's a flat rate 200m per year or is it incrementally increased each year of the contract?

1.253 billion for 5 years, and live coverage nation wide on FTA. Gotta be happy with that.

Fans will also be able to access games live via the Telstra Network on mobile phones. The new broadcast deal also sees the return of a dedicated 24-hour AFL station on the Fox Network, which plans to run seven current affair-style programs a week to compliment its coverage.

Fox Footy ACA: Excuse me. Excuse me? Mr Harvey, looking at your team sheets again, what's the story? Extended bench? Australia has a right to know who's playing. What do you have to say about that?

Mark Harvey: Mate get that $%^&ing camera out of my face.

Enlarged hand. Camera shake. Pavement, foot.

* Which laundry detergent works best (on washing guernseys)?

* Immigrants. They come here and they take our jobs (cutting up oranges for half time).

* This con artist rippped off a pensioner (by charging $4.00 for a cup of tea at Docklands).

For the Channel Seven haters out there, does anyone know if Fox will have their own commentary team for the simulcast games?

Great result for footy! Live FTA footy into NSW & QLD on 7 Mate.
Jeffles, the games that Channel 7 are broadcasting, Foxtel will broadcast the game as a direct simulcast, using Channel 7’s commentators. Also it’s unlikely Ch7 will broadcast in HD, therefore the games will be upscaled onto Fox AFL HD, so still much better, but it won’t be native HD.

Just saw Offsiders. I see my mate Caro is at it again.

She thinks the surge of AFL-led Foxtel subscriptions will lead viewers to A League, basketball etc where they previously have not been exposed. Does anyone have the %age of household subscriptions to Foxtel on a state by state breakdown. While I expect it to be a bit higher in NSW and Qld because of the NRL, I doubt it's a huge difference. A lot of AFL fans would already have Foxtel.

The other thing she moans about is the "self-interest" of rugby league and its delay in forming a commission. She's got a bloody short memory. The VFL's path to commissionhood wasn't exactly quick and bloodless.
