I've neen playing around with the next stages of the development in my head. Unfortunately we'll be losing our friends in the bearpit soon so I don't see any money anytime soon, although the fact that Kogarah and Oatley could both possibly end up as Liberal marginals might help.

I like the idea of a SW and SE terrace as stage 4. Northern terrace on the south side, except with a roof and a big gap in the middle where the Gate D entrace stairs comes through, a la the Chappel Stands and the Victor Richardson gates.

That leaves a nice 100 metre gap on the eastern side for a grandstand for Stage 5.

Dragons Heritage Round Clash Against Bulldogs Relocated To SCG

The St George Illawarra Dragons announced today that the Club has been required to relocate their Round 5 home game against the Bulldogs from WIN Jubilee Oval due to delays in the building works currently being undertaken as a result of $13 million funding support from the NSW State Government.

This fixture was originally been scheduled as the first home game of the Dragons 2011 season on Sunday, April 10 to be played in Kogarah; however delays in the building program have required the Club to source an alternate venue and the Club has determined to move this fixture to the Sydney Cricket Ground.

“It is unfortunate that we are not going to be able to play this game at WIN Jubilee `oval as planned but these circumstances are unavoidable,” said Dragons CWO Peter Doust. “We had deliberately asked the NRL to schedule us away for the opening five rounds as these were timelines that were established by the project management team.

“We were formally advised yesterday that there were complications with the project due to a number of factors including material shortages brought about by the natural disasters that affected Queensland and Victoria earlier this year. We have therefore acted upon our contingency plan with the SCG chosen as the preferred venue due to its historical significance with our brand, which is of particular importance as the NRL celebrates Heritage Round, and its ability to deliver on our requirements for Red V Members, corporate partners and fans,” added Doust.

The Dragons recognise that these building delays provide challenges at this stage of the season and have moved quickly to secure an appropriate venue that can deliver on their stakeholder requirements.

“We understand that this creates challenges for our Corporate Partners, Red V Members, suppliers and fans that have already purchased tickets to this game,” said Doust. “We are presently working through the various matters with the SCG Trust and will be communicating with our members and partners in particular on their ticketing allocations as soon as possible.”

The current $13 million upgrades to WIN Jubilee Oval include:

• A new northern grandstand with 1,372 undercover seats;
• New toilet and concession facilities;
• New change rooms for first grade and Under 20s players;
• New corporate area and boxes; and
• A new museum and merchandise outlet.

The Dragons other home venue, WIN Stadium in Wollongong, is also presently undergoing $30 million worth of upgrades with the construction of a new Western Grandstand.

The Club is grateful to the NSW State Government for the financial support and contributions in excess of $60 million for these valuable community assets over recent years.

Ticketing details for this Heritage Round match against the Bulldogs at the Sydney Cricket Ground will be released over the coming days on the Dragons official website.

Yep - nostalgia factor. The Dragons won all those premierships at the SCG, long before the SFS even existed.
