How many farken times did your thesis topic change before you grew some balls and actually wrote something?

If I actually write 15,000 words of something with nothing to do with the topic can I just change the question again or will I get shot?

Is this sh*t even worth it, as measured by propensity to pull intellectual chicks?

Is there a specific strain of cock (unexplored/under discussed avenues of study) I need to suck to get further research grants?

Is this sort of language sanctioned by academia?

Too many!

Generally though my thesis started as this huge subject, far too much to cover in an honours thesis. Then over the following months I kept cutting back the scope until I discovered that the methodology I was trying to create to achieve my thesis was itself a big enough topic for a thesis.

Then, right at the end, I decided that applying my methodology would add a lot of value to the thesis as a demonstration. So, in the end, I had something that was quite similar to my original idea except it was much more brief (i.e. emphasis on the methodology and not the case study).

I've got absolutely no plans to do academic research again for a long time.

No worries - in Adelaide, that all passes as academic language.

Beats the 3 R's that form the Victorian standard - Revisionism, revisionism, revisionism...
