Great Britain have been tipped to finish fourth in the medal table in Beijing by the US Olympic committee's head of sport performance Steve Roush.

Australia should and will.

Although comparing budgets between the 2 countries the UK has spent a huge amount as it is the lead up to 2012...where we will again kick your ass but in your own country

well frankly it's a rubbish guide...cos america are gonna take look of golds off you in the pool and events like sailing & rowing which we excel are'nt part of the commonwealths

but if your gonna compare at least add the rest of the nations that'll make up GB team (eng, scot, wales,NI & IoM)

australia 84 - 69 - 68 - 221
GB 51 - 54 - 46 - 151

now take off all the swimming golds that america will win instead of you and add all the cycling, rowing, sailing golds we're going to win...and we ain't that far behind

Does anyone actuall give a **** about the Olympics? Really there aint much hype going around. Just doesn't seem to be what it used to. Maybe this time around because it's in China. I'm looking forward to watching the Olyroos, that's about it.

No, but the article is using this guy's "expert prediction" as news. Sounds like horn tooting to me?

I feel the same. I didn't pay a lot of attention to Athens either.
And good luck trying to actually watch the Olyroos. Seven will have ads, jumps to other sports and apparently, even the announcement of the flag-bearer all interrupting their matches. SBS are covering the other futbol games and will do a bang up job by comparison.

As someone who loves the Olympics, will watch it and love it for the whole day. But Marion Jones being found guilty of drugs...well it has ruined the whole festivites for me.

And don't think that Australian Athletes are clean...its just our media telling us we are perfect. I doubt its the case across the board.

My care factor is not as big as in past years but I'll still be tuning in a fair bit.

For the Aussies, I'm looking forward to the swimming, track cycling and basketball.

I'm also pumped up for the mens 100m sprint. Bolt v Powell v Gay. Not since the Atlanta Final (probably one of the most dramatic 100m races) has there been such anticipation.
I can see a new horizon underneath the blazin' sky
I'll be where the eagle's flying higher and higher
Gonna be your man in motion, all I need is a pair of wheels
Take me where my future's lyin', St. Elmo's Fire

2 Very good points :D. Can't wait for the Olympics to start. For me the Olympics is one of the only world events involving every country where people can forget all their troubles and watch athletes performing at their best on the world stage, that's what makes the Olympics so good.

I watched the Olyroos play last night, wasn't a bad performance at all, they have a pretty tough group Argentina (defending Olympic champions) and Ivory Coast. It's gunna be pretty had for them to advance but fingers crossed they can make it through. One thing i hope that happens like it did in Athens is that USA don't win the Gold medal in basketball :D
