Parnell Tennis Centre probably

Australia will play away against Serbia to remain in the World Group. A bloody hard draw.

If you want to send a message to the Fed Cup team in Austria, Tennis Australia are welcoming comments through their website.

A big congratulations to Sam Stosur for beating Amelie Mauresmo on clay overnight in a three set epic. These sorts of wins can really take you to the next level as a player and I hope this does that for Sam. She has so much ability.

And for the sake of Aussie tennis, lets hope Tony Roche can do something with Lleyton Hewitt.

You beat me to it!

I was over the moon to hear and read about Sammy's win. She's currently at 29, and if she can hold her ranking over the claycourt season, she'll place herself in good stead for a stronger showing at Wimbledon than in previous years.

Hewitt beat Chela also...I guess one could almost call it an upset, considering Chela's form this year, Hewitt's form this year, their previous meetings, and the surface on which it was played.

Hewitt MP in Semi-Final against Rafa

Then Federer ends the streak at 81 in the final.

And Hewitt into the SF this week as well, to face Monfils for a spot in the final against relative no-names from the other SF.
World #16.

Has he peaked too early? I bloody hope not.

Wil Anderson put forward a good argument for getting behind LLeyton. "If he doesn't win matches, Bec Hewitt may have to get back into acting."

Women’s doubles delight for Molik and Santangelo

By Guillaume Baraise
Friday, June 8, 2007

Seventeen seeds Alicia Molik and Mara Santangelo are the surprise winners of this year’s French Open. The Australian/Italian pairing had never previously won a doubles title, so their triumph in a Grand Slam is a great way to start their trophy collection.

Molik and Santangelo upset the second seeds Cara Black and Lisa Huber in the semi-final 6-3, 3-6, 6-3 and overcame Katarina Srebotnik from Finland and Japan’s Ai Sugiyama in the final this evening, 7-6, 6-4 in 1hr 36mins.

Srebotnik and Sugiyama did well to reach the final themselves, defeating the No.1 seeds Lisa Raymond from the US and Australian Samantha Stosur in their semi-final 1-6, 6-4, 6-3.

Alicia Molik claims her second Grand Slam doubles title, after her win with Svetlana Kuznetsova at the 2005 Australian Open. What makes victory particularly sweet for her is the fact that she spent months out of the game due to an ear infection and has gradually been making her way back this year.

This is Santangelo’s first major title, but it is richly deserved on the back of successes in Rome alongside Nathalie Dechy, and Amelia Island, when she was associated with one of her opponents today, Katarina Srebotnik.

Watched the last set between Hewitt and Nadal - Geese Hewitt was getting back to his best and should have won the third set.

Wayne Arthurs is through to the second round of Wimbledon! That bloke must love long 5 setters. More good news is that at three men and three women will be representing Australia in the 2nd round. Centre court sans roof lookes quite good - I think it's all the natural light.

It will be a long two weeks of staying up late.

Arthurs win was the most surprising of them all. Saw him looking tired down and out in the third set, then literally stunned when I saw on the news tonight that he was still alive.

Should be an interesting tournament, the aussies seem to be doing particularly well.
