I seriously dislike English football & its supporters for this very reason. It is as if football is a chance to show some sort of English racial superiority or something. I find it rather sickening to be honest.

Arsene Wenger is a very switched-on Euro savvy coach. He tries to have his team playing attacking positive but technically sound football. With a team of mainly English players this unfortunately would NOT be possible any more.

Barcelona play THE BEST football on the planet. Watching them, even as an unbiased observer is a pleasure to the eyes & senses. The way they use the ball is just so polished & fluent. Almost a work of art to be honest. The Dutch attacking midset, but technical flair & brilliance from players from Spain Africa & South America. Samuel E'to = a gun! 8)

Barcelona all the way for me I'm afraid. As I like to see teams playing the sweetest football rewarded.

I wouldn't have a team to support in the EPL if their were restrictions on overseas players.

Like the fact my team is made up of so many internationals...particularly africans...who are greatley overlooked in many clubs around europe.

the spurs team are mainly english....they are also above arsenal in the league . so it is possible...

and i put it to you that it's arsene wenger that is RACIST....he's shipped out every english player he's had at arsenal....this summer he's going to get rid of the best left back in the world.... (ashley cole) now why would you do that?. i'm pretty sure sol campbell is on his way too,but to be honest he's not right in the head so i doubt him being english will have anything to do with it.....

all in all wenger's done fcuk all for british football...he's sold british talent instead of bringing on the likes of mattew upson and jermaine pennant sold to birmingham and david bentley (blackburn)..well over half of the current youth team are europeans and africans and every youth player released last season where english...all i might add have found teams in the championship.

the fact that there are no players on the pitch its also indicitive of Arsenals lack in youth development, they have focused their efforts on buying whoever they want, and come off looking little better than Chelsea.

I accept that these days football is a big money game, but its not the only way to ensure club success.

You can not deny that some of the biggest names in Manchester United, and football itself, are the fruits of the United youth program, rather than that of the club owners chequebook.

even united aren't bringing them through anymore.saying that, they've only ever brought through 1 crops of players. the 92' youth team with becks, scholes, the nevilles and gigges plus players who went on to other clubs like robbie savage, terry cooke and keith gillespie...i doubt we'll ever see that again.

What I meant, is that it would be nice to see at least 2 or 3 Englishmen running around in an English team.... I'm not against internationals playing at all... they make the league the great spectacle it is, however clubs like Arsenal have gone waaaay too far. I'd not be happy if city ever became that big and only bought internationals...

I believe Liverpool has a nice balance of int'l and English players, as does the scum, and to a lesser extent Chelsea... But Arsenal has gone too far IMO...

I can tell you that if Adelaide United imported all of their players, and there were no Australian born players left in the side, half of their supporters would not be happy... On the other side of the coin, they'd gain a whole bunch of bandwagonners...

Sad!

Bolton balances it with having a good Youth Academy, Davies is a prime example, I understand your point, I think that there are enough English teams for the best talents to come through the system...even if Arsenal is an example where most are foreigners.

^^ Kevin Davies isn’t a Bolton Yoof, he came to prominence during Chesterfield’s 97 FA Cup run, then went to Southampton and Blackburn. He was 26 when he arrived at Bolton.

And about Arsenal and English youth development.
a) again, who cares? 90% of Arsenal supporters aren’t bothered that Henry, Cesc, Toure, Reyes aren’t local lads.
b) Arsenal do have a good youth policy. The difference between them and other English clubs is that they cast their net a lot further and therefore end up with young players from all over the world. They’re not quite comparable to Ajax but they are going down that road.
c) If you look at the young English players that have been sold off they’re just not up to the same standards as those who have been kept on. If they’d been kept on as the Arsenal 1st team the Gunners would never make it out of the first round of the Champions League.
d) If Ash Cole goes, it’s not because he’s English but because he’s a disloyal c***. He showed his true colours by allowing himself to be tapped up by Chelsea last year.
e) Spurs being higher than Arsenal in the League is a total one-off. They have had the shortest possible season having been knocked out of both cups ASAP and not playing in Europe. They’re not exactly cream-crackered by their playing schedule. Arsenal on the other hand have to fill a hole left by one of their best ever central midfielders – once that’s sorted the Tiny Totts won’t get within a bulls roar of the Gunners. And Spurs first team squad is mostly foreign anway.
