This forbidden error is giving me the shits. However, there's this movie called Forbidden Tales, best porno i've ever seen.

Hey, is the hack the reason why I'm in bold and green?

Yeah I've removed the 's' version. And have updated all the links on the website accordingly.

Just to update on the situation... It's not a problem with this actual forum, it's server-wide. I'm getting similar errors with other software (time to blame the web host).

It's really pissing me off. I've been reading up on the error on the phpBB website forum, and heaps of other people have got this error.

We'll get there!!.................

Sounds like they need to CHOWN a few directories to your admin username, or they just need to reinstall apache, as it just looks like the permissions are stuffed up... It still makes no sense that it's all pretty random though...?

They've installed a new security thing called mod_security. It basically blocks scripts if they use certain strings of words, which may possibly be hacking attempts. Alot of web hosts are doing this, as there is a mountain of discussion about it on phpbb.com. I don't see this as acceptable. Either they modify it so everything works correctly or I'll move the site elsewhere. I should have more info on this very shortly.

what are the ramifications if you move? Will the format of the site change? Will you have to pay more money? Will our role in supporting regulars change (as in.....not long ago people stated that they would be happy to financially support the site. You replied that visiting the ads on the site would help)?

If I had to move the site, nah the format wouldn't change. I'd simply just transfer all the files to a new web host, but that's a last resort. The advertising revenue is covering the cost of the hosting, so it's all good at the moment.

On average, how often are you guys getting the forbidden errors?

Every second reply dude.

If it's a long post, it doesn't post. Ever.

Maybe one in 5 posts......I'm not quite sure if I am experiencing the problem as much as others though.

My long post on the Indoor Stadium posted no problemo.

It happens extremely randomly...some posts its right away and others I cant post for 2-3 consecutive threads.

Extremely randomly for me.

Haven't had it for awhile, but I don't think I've posted a lengthy post for sometime.

The '403' struck me more commonly on longer posts, especially with photos involved - sometimes in preview, other times in submit. There was a random element to it. It really plagued me with my Melbourne Showgrounds photos posts. However, I found (when I had a bit of spare time) that if I persisted long and stubbornly enough and kept submitting time and time again - using multiple windows - one would eventaully make it through. It sometimes, but not often, struck my short posts.

After a 6 day break from last Friday, I returned home and started posting again yesterday, including a couple of longer posts (albeit without photos). Haven't since had any problems at all, either in preview or submit.

Thanks for that sandyhill. Is everyone still getting the error occassionally? The web host may have reduced their security a bit...
