'twas a great derby to watch for the neutral. I think we're definitely seeing some fragility in WS which is good to know coming in to finals. Popa pretty much nailed it post match - SFC scored 3 goals without having produced a genuine chance in the match. SFC shouldn't bank on that.

40,285 attendance was good, but "only" comes in as the 3rd largest this season.

After that game I have the average attendance at A-League games in Sydney this season as 17,932 which is 1,363 more than the average attendance in Melbourne this season. Melbourne has 4 more games to go while Sydney has 6.

If the Pirtek upgrade somehow happens to be completed before the start of next season and Heart start to get better support due to the takeover we could see both cities with in excess of 500k attendance at A-League games.

I shouldn't expect WS to have new capacity until season 11 to be honest.

But maybe don't rule out a derby match at Homebush?

As far as goal setting goes, all I want from next season is to hit the magic 2 million mark for regular season total attendance. I would have settled for 1.85 million for a nice and round 100% increase on season 1 in the competition's first 10 years - except it looks like we'll do it in season 9.

The project hasn't cleared Council yet. The clock was stopped again on Thursday when it was referred to the Roads and Maritime Services Department. It seems that there was 1 submission after it went on public display for comment.

What we have here is a pretty good example of why I never practiced urban planning as a profession after having studied that useless sh*t at uni. By far the largest environmental impact of this redevelopment - the number of f***ing trees the council killed by notifying the "neighbouring" properties of the development. Check out the list of notified properties for such a pissant little development. I'm amazed there was only one submission.

Results in the ACL have taken on a more important role from this year on. Ranking of Member Associations by the AFC has been changed with National Team performance over the last 4 years worth 30% in the rankings and results in the ACL etc over the last 4 years worth 70%. The top 24 MA's will be allocated direct spot(s) into the ACL provided they satisfy other specified criteria. MA's ranked below that will be allocated play off spots.
