Huge year. Not a lot of nostalgia for Westlakes or regret that they moved, is there?

Everyone in Adelaide is all over Adelaide Oval. They seriously love the thing. We get it from our relos on both sides. People are talking about it like Austadiums talked about stadiums, back when we talked about stadiums.

I feel some pings of sadness about Football Park sometimes. But I left Adelaide in 2009 so I haven't been Adelaide Oval'd. That and I lived a 10 minute walk away from Football Park so f***ed if I knew what all the complaining was about

Melbourne coach Paul Roos says players Dean Terlich and Alex Georgiou face a club-imposed sanction for their Mad Monday prank, having dressed up as convicted child sex predator Rolf Harris and a girl.

A picture of the pair appeared on Instagram on Monday as part of the Demons' end-of-season function.

Roos said on Tuesday he could not believe what Terlich and Georgiou had done, with the club to determine the punishment. This could include a penalty and an education process.
That's rool prfshnl.

The punishment 'could' include a penalty?

Glad we cleared that up. :hand:

Interested by the week 1 finals crowds in Melbourne. 74,753 for Hawthorn/Geelong was beaten by Essendon/North 78,559. Add a few more variables - bigger rivalry, bigger clubs than North, higher tier final. What's the go? Ticket prices? What was the weather doing?

They're not, they're conforming to the model.

The AFL model is about central control. The easiest way to maintain control is to pool revenue for the central administration and keep clubs poor. When clubs receive "special" assistance it is with strings attached. What is called a 'tied grant' in government. They'll get their money.

It's not out of the ordinary for over half the AFL clubs to record a financial loss in any one year. As long as there's $1 billion attached to media rights, clubs will be dragged along unless they fall way lower than Brisbane could.

It's funny, North gets $3 million every year.

Yet this is the story:

I guess the difference is that Brisbane are actually capable of being self sufficient if they weren't so sh*t.

At least North have given up on the bullshit routine "we dominated in the mid 90s, when the kids of that era turn adult age our popularity will explode!"

Sydney v North and Hawthorn v Port for the prelims.

Man a North/Port grand final would sh*t the AFL off!

North have been gazumped by Footscray to play in Ballarat.

Labor is pledging a 20,000 seat redevelopment of the ground in Ballarat, with Footscray playing 2 home games per year there.

Strategically this is a good move. It's a short drive from Melbourne (some even commute), and the population is already north of 100,000. Could easily become another Geelong in off field stability terms. Is this the start of a 'soft' creeping relocation? Only if Footscray isn't stupid.

Hawthorn may be on the move. Tossing up a 35 million dollar expansion at Wayverley, or a 50 million dollar development on a greenfield.
