Re: SANFL 2013
Loving mid-week footy and good to see the three big state leagues go head-to-head. Close contest in the opening half but West Adelaide smashed Port Melbourne in the second. No doubt the Socceroos game across town impacted the crowd.

West Adelaide have now won more games this year on the MCG than the Adelaide Crows.

Re: SANFL 2013
West Adelaide's best player Travis Tuck is the player banned by the AFL over the 3 strikes illicit drug policy. If only he knew you could dodge strikes with impunity by self reporting.

Quite a lot of positive spin here for an article about the ABC ditching SANFL and WAFL coverage.
Interesting where things go from here. They're chasing FTA at all costs which seems quite an outdated model for what is essentially a niche interest.
Other sports such as ice hockey appear to be coping quite well with a pay television model. It pays not to cling to delusions of grandeur.

Re: SANFL 2013
Hopefully with no AFL in town this weekend, some bumper crowds will turn out.
Would like to see an all up figure of 15000.

Re: SANFL 2013
When the SANFL was focussing on increasing gate takings as their corporate strategy this year, its a bit of an issue for them. In terms of TV, WAFC have to fork out the production costs for channel 9 and it looks like they will play Friday Night games at the WACA next season, game of the round if it comes to fruition.
However have to see how those square boundaries that were done because you expected Rugby and Soccer to come to the ground can cope with playing WAFL games there. What a numpty Kath White was...

Re: SANFL 2013
WAFL on WACA will be interesting. 140m long pitch.
The regulated size of the centre square area is 50m x 50m. That leaves 90m for both 50m arcs and a necessary 3-5m space between the boundary and fence. It'll only fit a 40m arc at either end basically, unless they change the size of the centre square. That doesn't make sense though - the centre square is an element of the laws of the game, the 50m arcs are a 70s TV invention of no consequence to the rules.
Rotating the pitch 45 degrees doesn't buy much extra length either.
Also just for laughs, the pitch is the same length as the SFS. Not bad for a cricket ground.

Re: SANFL 2013
Maybe it will inspire some high scoring games, not a big fan of the idea. 9 just have their equipment set up there with the cricket, thus not wanting to move. Just like Foxtel with the games in the Foxtel Cup.
Sort of tempted to use the $100 flight voucher to head to Norwood v Port Adelaide, but might save it for next season.
