Let's keep it all in one thread lads. And no name calling because any club in any sport that gets out of this with clean skin will be very fortunate. Except maybe the Mariners - they're too poor to dope.

Do breakfast cones and slurpees count?

I'm pretty sure I saw cannabis on the WADA Banned List but only for particular sports, but not including football, so you're clear.

p17:
Quote:
Multiple players (in one code) from a number of clubs are suspected of currently using or
having previously used peptides, which could constitute an anti-doping rule violation.16
Some players have also been identified as sourcing peptides for personal use. An instance
of team-based doping, orchestrated by some club officials and coaching staff, has also been
identified.

That's the Dons.

If any charges are brought against the Dons players I'd expect the AFL to seek an injunction to allow the season to continue, then battle it out with ASADA for jurisdiction. Law & Order: Sport.

The media is linking in the timing of the release of the report with the Essendon issue, suggesting this is the disturbing information the club released 24-48 hours before going public. Others are insinuating it was the news that Kyle Reimers was talking to the media.

The timing of the report seems convenient on face value, but knowing public servants they couldn't pinpoint the timing to the nearest month if they tried.

The only certainty in all this is the Nimbin Mariners won't get caught up in this because they are povo.

If anything it makes sure nobody notices we haven't paid the stadium rent in...

Forget I said anything.

I'm seeing comments on BF that the report is just scare-mongering because it lacks specifics. Um, no. It's a 'horizon-scanning' intel report based off tonnes of info gathered from customs, all the local cops, state crime agencies and international partners. Reading between the lines (of an unclassified document remember) they've already got heaps of specifics to work on and they haven't yet begun (or may not begin) an intense investigation into this industry.

Once signed up to the WADA code an organisation has ceded its power to the local anti-doping body (ASADA). The AFL/NRL/FFA/ARU simply don't have the ability to contest a punishment. They can add to it, however, but they can't reduce it. The sports bodies also have the flexibility to punish clubs in addition to players if there are 2 or more dopers at one club.

Signing up to WADA rules may seem silly in retrospect, if only for the reason that..... nobody far_en plays the game anywhere else in the world, so why would you bother. Quick, make sure those pesky Danish aren't getting an edge on us. (shaking fist) ...Denmark!!!

It appears that was what the AFL actually thought. And then the feds threatened them with pulling their funding and that was that.

Apparently 9 AFL clubs (6 Melbourne based) 7 NRL clubs, 3 A LEAGUE clubs, crims, coaches and over 90 individual athletes have been named in the detailed report.
The NRL have already asked Deloittes to exam the purchase records and accounts of 5 clubs named.
