It looks like like the Force will abandon Perth and follow in their rl colleagues in moving to Melbourne in response to being abandonned by Perth fans .Today in the front page West Australian newspaper the force said they would abandon Perth if original upgrades that they themselves abandonned in favour of Subiaco are not revisited .

Repeat after me... Abandoned, abandoned, abandoned, abandoned, abandoned, abandoned, abandoned, abandoned....

Rumour has it that West Coast are moving to Melbourne because that wicked WA government won't build them a 65,000 seat stadium. They feel that they are missing out on the experience of playing in a half full stadium so they want to play all their home games at the MCG.

The West Australian today revealed that a report from Melbourne-based company LEK Consulting says Perth is in danger of losing Super 14 rugby franchise the Western Force if a suitable rectangular facility is not built.

Meanwhile, the Victorian government is aggressively pursuing further tenants for its 31,500-seat rectangular stadium, which is currently under construction. A-League champions Melbourne Victory and NRL club Melbourne Storm have already committed to the Olympic Park venue and there is room for a third football team.

The Force will lose around $2.8 million this year, while Perth Glory chief executive Scott Gooch said his club would lose $1.5 million. Glory’s losses will be absorbed by sole owner Tony Sage.

They win however :)

FORZA FORCE 8)

Where is the article Nines that they want to abandon Perth? The license is held by Rugby WA and thus they have no interest in basing a side in Melbourne.

There financial woes have largely been the result of Subiaco Oval

Its easily changed and the expansion side is already more successful then previous expansion sides in Brisbane and Sydney in the AFL. \

Nines I have posted that article up on the A-League thread...

And the ARU has to revoke the license of the Force before they lose the license. This is the first year they will make a loss. If they make a profit next year there is no risk to the license.

As I said the license is held by Rugby WA, the force will go, they will not move to Melbourne

The newspaper article is quite different to the online .The online article only details this years projected loss and the fact the farce desire a rectangular stadium and that melbourne is courting .The newspaper article goes into greater detail about the farce cannot withstand the projected losses for this year and the next 3 years , that even though the capacity at MES is not an issue they need more corporate facilities to generate substabtially more income .Also they were quite adament that the force would be going to Melbourne .Probably because they also admitted that any construction would further reduce earnings .

"Fans abandon force". "Force abandons fans". I see what you did there. As stupid and nonsensical as these two threads are I must applaud you for creativity.

Nines, the Force fold. Vic Rugby get the license that WA Rugby has. WA Rugby does not move the license to Melbourne...

Force don't move to Melbourne...a new side replaces the Force if this happens.

I have no idea what you are saying...

WA RUGBY LOSE THE LICENSE

THE LICENSE IS GIVEN TO VICTORIA

FORCE DO NOT MOVE TO MELBOURNE...THEY SIMPLY FOLD

LOOK AT THE HUNTER PIRATES IN THE NBL WHO TOOK ON THE COMETS LICENSE AND THEN THERE LICENSE WHEN THEY FOLDED WAS TAKEN UP BY SINGAPORE. SAME WOULD HAPPEN WITH THE FORCE

That's unless the Force name carries to Melbourne with the new license.

That is true, but after one season that they lose money they will not lose money at MES. Especially when it seems the venue is going to be too small to hold all the members of the Western Force.

Like I said, with or without the upgrade a move to MES will get the Force back into positive territory.
