Because of the amount of washed out Football matches in Sydney this season, the NSW State League Second Division wound up today with one postponed match still to play. That match is Ku-Ring-Gai against Rockdale Ilinden.

At the completion of today's matches, this postponed match takes on huge importance for Ku-Ring-Gai as if they win or draw, they'll be crowned Minor-Premiers and will be "considered" for promotion to the First Division next season should they apply and be "accepted" (according to a media release by Football NSW last week).

It's probably unlikely that Ku-Ring-Gai, if they become Minor-Premiers, will be promoted as their home ground(s), Mills Park and Parklands Oval, obviously don't have floodlights, because this postponed match against Ilinden is to be played at the Serbian Centre, for those not from Sydney that's probably nearing 50km from the Ku-Ring-Gai area, and probably a bit, but only just, closer to the Rockdale area.

The funny thing is, that at the completion of today's matches, Ku-Ring-Gai are equal on points, but behind on goal difference by 11, with another team who would surely be hoping that the lowly Rockdale Ilinden could spring a surprise win or draw against the high flying Ku-Ring-Gai.

This other team currently equal on points, but +11 on goal difference is of course Avala! The Serbian backed Club who not only play their home matches at the Serbian Centre, but also built it and own it.

The stranger thing is, that this postponed match is a Ku-Ring-Gai home match!

What were Ku-Ring-Gai and Football NSW thinking?

Can you imagine what the (to put it lightly) heckling will be like on Tuesday night at the Serbian Centre?

Anyone in Sydney able to attend? I'd love to know what it's like!

Tip: Unlike most antiquated fora on the internet, we here at Austadiums value the need for appropriate thread titles that quickly summarise the contents of the said thread.

I apologise if the title of my post made you click it to find out what it was all about. How silly of me to try and entice people to read something that I took the time to write.

Sorry I wasted your time as much as you did making me read your inappropriate response.

Soccer NSW faces this problem a lot re; deferred matches and ground standards. Unfortunately, many outer suburban venues (places Soccer NSW rationalise the inner city for) have not caught up with Soccer NSW's intended progress. It is disappointing. Soccer is huge in those areas but their senior administrators haven't got that entrenched local nous to nag councils for upgrades. RL clubs can do this with the carrot of the local Leagues Club.

Soccer NSW? It's Football NSW now.

The competition structure is designed so Bonnyrigg don't get promoted. End of story.

Sorry for the observation. I just noticed that all other threads in this forum had titles that were pretty indicative of what was inside.

That is all :)

Apology accepted Waz, I tend to write things and then put a title to it, mostly I guess they're obscure because I like people to think what I'm thinking about something.

But if I were to write NSW State League, Ku-Ring-Gai and Ilinden, who'd read it, who'd even know the teams I were talking about were known now as Northern Tigers and Rockdale City Suns?

I know I'll be criticised by calling teams by their old names, and that goes for Avala = Bonnyrigg, but I find the whole situation rather silly.

Yugal are now known as FC Bossy Liverpool, that's just plain stupid, the Northern Tigers play wearing green and white, and to somebody who lives north of Sydney, everything is south anyway.

HD - I understand what you're saying, but if the Federation wanted to make it easier to eliminate Avala from ever being promoted, why would they allow a game to be played at their stadium where Serbian fans have an opportunity to heckle the crap out of Ku-Ring-Gai players etc. Throw flairs etc and the like?

Why isn't the game set down for St George Stadium, Seymour Shaw Park, Marconi Stadium, Melita Stadium, Gabbie Stadium, Garside Park, Cromer Park - the list of venues with floodlights is really endless - so is it a ploy by Ku-Ring-Gai to attract fans to the game, any fans to get the gate receipts?

The game has now been transferred to Garside Park. Funny about that!

It's because Football NSW are a pack of idiots. Most people acknowledge that Bonnyrigg is the best team outside the current NSWPL in all aspects. However the casual observer would also note that the Federation are changing the rules ad hoc so we will not see BWE and SU in the same competition. The current convenient excuse is 3 into 2 (Southern Districts) don't go but we can all read between the lines.
