i think Heritage Round is danger of becoming a flogged dead horse... i'd say they've used up all the good ideas for heritage themes... they should only do it every few years...
p.s. good on Port Adelaide for boycotting this year's heritage round... the 80s theme the AFL imposed meant Port could only possibly wear their traditional prison bar jumper - but of course, for still baffling reasons to do with Collingwood, weren't allowed to... so they just wore their most un-heritage-like jumper they could get there hands on - fluro teal

And Fremantle continue to abandon its East Fremantle links, wearing the same Fremantle jumper from 1885 for every heritage round.

It looks good, but soon their will be a civil war if they don't start appreciating their East Fremantle links.

Seeing the Heritage Round emblem on Port's clash jumper is just another slap in the face for the Port Adelaide faithful, and Tony Jones typically Victorian comments about Port's heritage was another insult.

As for Fremantle not recognising their links to Easts, what's to say that Geelong wont b*@ch and whine about them wearing blue and white?

Well all commentators are noobs, we hear about the Peake story and Ebert story every week...

It seems they only give a stuff about champions from both states if they have a son that plays in the cough EddieFL cough....

People don't understand. It is not the South Fremantle link they are recognising, it is the original Fremantle Football Club, whose colours South Fremantle happened to adopt after the original FFC split.

And if Freo can run out on heritage round wearing Sydney colours, why can’t Port do so wearing Collingwood colours? Blatant hypocrisy :wank:

I did state it was the original Fremantle side of 1885 - not Sth Fremantle.

But IMO for the hype noobs in Perth, it would be good to see some blue and white recognised in another heritage jersey, it is in the end the most famous of all WAFL clubs.

Maybe they can alternate between the original Fremantle jersey and old Sth Freo and Est Freo jerseys...

Yes - what was it?

In case you hadn't noticed, I'm a Collingwood supporter. I also have no objections at all to Port wearing the prison bar guernsey for the heritage round. Before they entered the AFL, I used to barrack for Port too - you can guess why - when the SANFL GF was televised. They always seemed to be in it - and they even WON their GF's.

Speaking of heritage outfits, Footscray should've been without the bulldog emblem yesterday, just the plain red and white stripes - and they should've had red shorts (like Essendon). Richmond should've had bright yellow shorts.

Collingwood should revert back to the heritage 'white-backed' guernsey permanently. And the goal umpires looked more authorative in the long white coats. Bring them back permanently too.

I've always preferred collingwood's old white and black guernsey more... perhaps because it reminds me of all those Norwood greats you stole away from us in the late 80s?

The revisio^H^H^H^H^heritage round's only saving grace was St Kilda's collared jumper.

H'mmm - I could be wrong, but i'm thinking Scott Russell, Craig Kelly, Tony Francis were from SA (if not Norwood). Were these the ones you had in mind?

Francis, Kelly - Norwood, Russell - Sturt.

I think the only Norwood player you have at the moment is Scott Burns.

Was this just a heritage round or an 80's heritage round?

I haven't seen any of the guernsey's apart from the last minute of the Essendon Carlton clash and I noticed the Bombers with the red shorts.

If it was 80's themed did St Kilda have the numbers with the lines in them like what adidas did at this years FIFA World Cup™?

Also did Collingwood have the block style numbers? By that I mean numbers with straight edges instead of having curves.

If the Bulldogs had the motif on the front then that is plain sh*t! Heritage my rectum! Also if it was 80's yellow for Richmond would be a strict no-no as they were only used in the 70's with the advent of colour tv. In fact Richmond only wore the yellow shorts in 1975. I'm not 100% sure with the Bulldogs if they wore them as long as into the 80's or not. I think they ditched them around 1978 but I may be wrong.
