Victory are one of the few Australian sports clubs, and just about the only A-League side, to record consistent annual financial profits.

The club made a $255,000 profit from about $14.4 million revenue in the 2013 financial year. It is expected to exceed that result for the 2014 year due in part to income from last year’s friendly match against English Premier League side Liverpool, which attracted a crowd of more than 90,000 to the Melbourne Cricket Ground.
With 23,416 members so far it's looking like another year to not worry about 1/10th of the competition.

Wanderers are another handy 1/10th not to worry about either, with a lazy 3.5 million of pure profit coming in from Asia.
Victory made an $826k profit last season from $15.4m revenue.

Wanderers in their second season made a $700k profit according to John Stensholt in an article in the AFR. He mentioned that on the back of their ACL, CWC participation they should increase revenue this year by around $3m to over $15m.

I read recently that Roar is looking at around $14m revenue this season but are not expecting a profit due to their investment in improving training and office facilities at Perry Park.

When you look at these levels of income and compare Phoenix, Mariners and Adelaide operating on expenditure in the $6m - $6.5m range you start to question what the "bigger" clubs are getting for their money.

Perry Park is so utterly capable of receiving more love. Great location next to rail and the inner city bypass, plenty of land. No further from town than Perth Oval from the CBD. Or Moore Park from Sydney for that matter.

Not just Adelaide United, but Hindmarsh Stadium itself is racking up some stats. Has hosted an NSL grand final (with Mark Viduka), Olympic soccer tournament, an AFC Champions League final, FFA Cup final...

Awesome stuff. Can't wait for the final. Hoping for an AU victory in front of their home fans. Also because I love Gombau, I'd do anything for that man.

Soccer StoppageTime in their radio program the other day had a "scoop" about a team based out of Sutherland that would represent the Shire, Illawarra, Liverpool and Macarthur. They are supposed to have 20-30% of the money needed already and there is talk about it may be Indian money. Muscat is supposed to have been contacted to be the inaugural coach.

They have a history of "scoops" that don't go anywhere but some have been correct.

I had a big smile at the sheer stupidity of expecting anyone from Liverpool or Macarthur to bother taking a drive along Heathcote Rd to watch a game.

The Shire struggles to field a team in the bogan game. A football team wouldn't make it through a preseason.

With NRL boss Smith wanting Allianz Stadium upgraded to 65-70k where would Sydney FC play? The atmosphere generated by a 15-25k crowd in a 65-75k stadium would be extremely disappointing no matter how well a stadium was designed.

Does Sydney need that?
IMO Sydney needs a 70 or 80, 000 seat rectangular venue. Ie ANZ ceasing to be an oval venue.
NRL doesn't fill the SFS in the regular season.
The NRL should be pushing harder for the Parramatta Stadium upgrade. The govt will only likely fund one of Parramatta or SFS, so which is it?

What Smith is talking about is Allianz becoming the big stadium, Parramatta being a 40k stadium and another that size out near the new airport at some time in the future. He doesn't want ANZ at all. In my view football doesn't need SFS to be any bigger and certainly shouldn't want the number of stadiums reduced by 1 so more NRL teams play at SFS and Parramatta. It would make the pitches much worse to play on and make fitting finals and international into the schedule of games at venues very difficult.

Not sure if this is the right place to post but the FFA made a $500k operating profit in 2013-14 and a net profit of $7.3m after one off items.
