I cant believe the "9 nations" idea coming from the ARU.
To say that it wouldnt be a threat to the world cup is silly, when you have all the best teams playing for a championship, and it would be terrible for smaller nations.
The ARU just want to make money from unions much richer than themselves, but they arent too interested when they are on the other side of the table.
If Italy can be in the 6-nations, surely Argentina and Fiji can be in the then 5-nations. thats the way to go to expand the game and not minimize it for a shortsighted profit.
ARU greed

Not the best idea. But I wouldn't mind smaller expansion with a combined Pacific and Argentina. It has its merits.
$45million is a lot of money. $15m for development and $30m being put away, undoubtedly for the next Super side or for a national club comp. But when you look at it in the scheme of things, that budget plaes in comparison to AFL and NRL. Still, you can do a lot with it.
