How many f***ing athletics events do they have there FFS? So many of their stadiums have tracks - no wonder K-League crowds are f***ed - the fans are all in a different postcode to the action.

Ditch the running track and you've got a nice little AFL stadium...

It's only 120m wide, so it's 35m too wide for football, but it's about 25m too narrow for the AFL. It's also nearly 190m long, so it's nearly 20m too long for the AFL too, and about 65m too long for football.

Kardinia Park is only 115m wide, Subiaco is 122m and ANZ is 128m - so width isn't really a problem. It's a touch long though...dibo wrote:It's only 120m wide, so it's 35m too wide for football, but it's about 25m too narrow for the AFL. The AFL doesn't really like any of those grounds, and you'll notice new grounds are all quite a bit wider. It's the Docklandsification of AFL venues.

Our FIFA world cup bid inserted athletics tracks in to AFL grounds - solely to make them look les sstupid as soccer venues.Boba Fett wrote:Ditch the running track and you've got a nice little AFL stadium...

It's not just the running track, it's that green coloured space as well. OLympic Park didn't have that.

Re: [Korea] Hwaseong Sports Stadium
Whenever I see these stadiums with running tracks that's my thought too - how many track and field events are they actually hosting in these bloody places?
Or is it the need to be able to call them 'multi use' to get government funding approval?
My favourite is that Olympic torch looking thing in the second to last picture. What possible reason could there be to put that in there except to obscure the view from about 5,000 of the seats?
Either way it's terrible. Ruins what could have been a good stadium.
