Just having a look at the plans for the redevelopment of Campbelltown Stadium. Its going to be a nice stadium when its completed.

It will be. It's come a long way since the mid 1990s when there were steel bleachers at the northern end, a flat hill and loads of demountables posing as corporate suites.

This has probably been brought up before but with suburban grounds continuing to get upgrades is there any change Wests will change their stadium deal to a 50/50 split between campbell town and leichardt? They may not have the facilities of ANZ but they would be cheaper to run and have a lower break even point...

And better atmosphere...

But I presume the fact that they haven't means that it is financially better to play at least some games at ANZ. Shame - it's great seeing those small suburban grounds full.

Is leichardt up to proper NRL standard? I know that this upgrade will enable campbelltown to push for more games with this upgrade pushing the amount of fixed seating to over 12k.

In saying that i know Brookvale doesnt have much fixed seating maybe it does if you include the bench seating that goes 5 rows all the way round the ground.

But i do agree we need to preseve the character in these grounds cause there is nothing better then a full suburban ground.

In many cases they lose money at suburban grounds because ANZ offers big cash advances to play there, you don't have to hire a big screen or floodlights AND there are more corproate facilities to sell at ANZ.

That said, the upgrades are making games at suburbsn grounds more financially viable. Clubs like WT SHOULD come to the party and increase games in the suburbs. Otherwise, the investment in upgrades made by the taxpayer is money down the drain.

Nice looking redevelopment. When does construction start / be completed?

The new West Sydney A-League team are playing at least one game at Campbelltown this season. All other home fixtures are shown as TBA. Presumably they are negotiating with Parramatta, Belmore, Penrith, Homebush and Leichardt to find the best deal. Let's hope they don't end up playing in front of a few thousand at Homebush.
