Re: SCG Northern Stand
It's good to see that they are respectful enough to take 99.94 days to demolish the Bradman stand.....the view through to the SFS will be an interesting perspective from the VT stand.

And it looks like they are going to continue with the Brewongle, Churchill and O'Reilly stands and a new roof for the SFS!

Nothing new on that page. It's just a wish-list of previously announced wish-lists. No details such as costings or timings. And why they're proposing to just fiddle about with Allianz Stadium rather than pulling it down and rebuilding is beyond me.dcb wrote:And it looks like they are going to continue with the Brewongle, Churchill and O'Reilly stands and a new roof for the SFS!

Re: SCG Northern Stand

What are they competing with the MCG for?

Because from Stanmore I'm obviously tossing up whether on a given weekend whether to get the train to Central for the SCG or the train to Domestic for the MCG.

Photo 6 gives an idea of the size of the demo job. There was a lot more to the stands than what could be seen from the ground side

Re: SCG Northern Stand
There's a dedicated website up and running now...
http://www.scgdevelopment.com.au/
What seems astonishing to me is the gaping hole in the top deck seating. The design seems to need a central 'pole' to hold the roof up - right where I would want to be sitting to watch the cricket. Seems a shame to lose so much prime (cricket) viewing position to something structural...

Re: SCG Northern Stand
Hey guys,
Long time since I've posted anything on here and this may have been posted somewhere else on the site, but I was watching "A Few Best Men" the other day, and they shot the airport arrivals scene on the outdoor escalators at the SCG, they were built as a part of the VT stand and apparently look sufficiently like an airport!
Maybe a bit of trivia if nothing else.
