Looking at the Force's and Glory's fixtures for this year, having the new stand - tentatively known as the Nathan Sharpe Stand by some , having it on the East side doesn't make much sense, would have been much better on the western side. With all the afternoon games, the roof really does sweet fa in terms of protection from the sun. Having said that, I see my seat is coming along very nicely

Re: Behold the new Perth Oval
Perth Oval is growing up so fast. From the quick crossover during the aleague telecast, it looks close to ready (minus any fit out below deck). The Perth v Welly match is going to be outright stadium porn.
Oh and also, I've just got a sneaking feeling that our green is going to be the 70's brown. I.e. you had to be there to understand. All I'm saying is green is pretty loud...

Perth - Phoenix game had a big grandstand filled with row after row of empty bright green seats. It was like watching a Heart home game.

Re: Behold the new Perth Oval
My mate has submitted an alternative name - Jack D Marks Stand. Nathan Sharpe, while a great player doesn't have a resonant connection to east Perth and only played 1-2 seasons at Perth Oval. The rest played at Subiaco. The force even rejected playing at NIB Stadium at one stage.AndrewM wrote:Looking at the Force's and Glory's fixtures for this year, having the new stand - tentatively known as the Nathan Sharpe Stand by some , having it on the East side doesn't make much sense, would have been much better on the western side. Jack D Marks was a leading figure in Town of Vincent council, East Perth FC and was the major reason why rectangular codes utilize the venue.
His connection to place far exceeds anything that Nathan Sharpe has.
Yeah, the eastern side is done first due to cost. (limited demolition costs). How good are the big screens! Glory are going to give away 10,000 free tickets next week. Not surprised its not totally finished. They still had seats to put in at the last glory game. Has been a good season to watch the progress of the stands.
It's an imposing eastern grandstand I do like the difference it has in being a massive second tier, a bit like a Ballymore.

Loving my new seat but wondering what the hell is taking BGC so long to finish it? Was supposed to be ready for the Force's first home game 23rd March. Only a couple of concession stands were open tonight for the Reds game, Only half the toilets open. Wonder how it will be for the Sharks game in a fortnight? This is from the same company that brought you the Perth Arena - BGC.

Wish they'd played the Lions match at NIB - supposed it would have been a tad difficult to get 35,000 in there though
