The big losers are Blacktown Council. They threw their lot in for this at the expense of other facilities in the hope GWS would have more of a presence and really project the place to the rest of the country. You don't get that with one NAB Cup fixture a year and an academy training base.
Does GWS really care? I doubt it. As far as I can see they're not paying for anything.
More fool Blacktown council for getting suckered on that deal. Yet again, the AFL's administration is shown to be far and away the most astute sporting organisation in the country. And sometimes I wonder whether they're the best in the world...
