If Stadium WA goes ahead (one can dream), what are the chances that Subiaco will be retained as a venue? Could it be scaled back a little bit and used for the State League? It actually looks like a ground with a decent atmosphere.

Nah. Bulldoze the fucker. The land is expensive, if flogged off you could pay for a big chunk of a new stadium. Assuming it's in another location.

It's also ironic that the traditional tenant of the ground - Subiaco - has probably the lowest supporter base of all WAFL clubs.

There WAFL crowds have actually grown quite well, but I think having West Perth across the road meant they struggled to get a supporter base.

Can I just say that one day I really want to go to Perth to see a major sporting event, like a Bledisloe Cup match. With a large stadium (over 50k). The ARU have said before that they would happily take a Bledisloe Cup match to Perth if they had a large enough stadium. I like many other people I know would book tickets to the Bledisloe and spend a good week in somewhere where I have been itching to go back to. I would put a lot of money into the WA economy.

Barnett please think about that.

WA is more likely to get a new stadium instead of an upgrade.

When, in 2009, he shelved plans by the former Labor government to build a new stadium, he believed the state could only afford to redevelop Patersons Stadium at Subiaco. He now thought differently. WA's strengthening economy meant he was now willing to consider building a new stadium at either Subiaco, East Perth or the Burswood. He would assess the stadium issue when he returned from annual leave in a fortnight, but said he would not make an immediate decision.

"But we will not send it off to another committee for 12 months. We will deal with it. We will use all the information that is already there. The (John) Langoulant report is there and is still relevant. We will use that."

Mr Barnett was particularly keen on Burswood because the former Labor government had picked Subiaco's Kitchener Park as the site for a new $1 billion outdoor stadium.

So lets pick a potentially inferior option, just because the previous party choose the other option. Politics at its best.
What was the exact location in Burswood again? It's been so long I've forgotten.

From memory, Burswood was always the 'best' option, but cost made it more expensive than the other sites?

I can assure everyone on here that of the 3 options for sites, it goes:

1. Burswood
2. East Perth
3. Daylight
4. Rushton Park
5. Subiaco

The Subi council has treated footy fans like utter sh*t for as long as I can remember, so I will laugh until 2030 if it goes to Burswood. Part of the reason Subi is such a terrible location is because of their fuckhead rules. eg. closing Mueller Park to cars.
