Pretty sure the land is owned by Packer. Not that he'd stand in the way of a 60,000 seat stadium being built less than 1km from his Casino

Previous media reports have suggested the golf course is on crown land.

This will solve nothing!

Did this dopey insular little council even read the Major Stadia Taskforce.

Only in Perth would you still be talking about where the stadium was going to be built after about nine years

I still think Jandakot was the best option and the easiest one for all involved to build, would also shut up the plethora of anti stadium folk in this city.

I think the Golf Club might take issue with that.

Interesting news bulletin. First of all, Patti Newton is a news anchor in Perth. Second, the Mayor of Subiaco seems like an inner-city whinger whose only just woken up to the fact that local businesses like having a big attraction in their neighbourhood that attracts upwards of 750,000 people a year. Third, there are issues with the site at Burswood.

At this rate, I think it'll be easier and cheaper to charter flights to Melbourne every second week and play Eagles or Dockers matches at the MCG.

Susannah Carr's been 7 News Presenter for like 30 years along with Rick Ardon, they head the ratings for the last 40 years as well.

Site at Burswood is compromised, no issue with the site at Jandakot and right on a train line. Express services from the city would take 15-18mins to the ground - loads of room to build bars around - very cheap land.

Won't happen cos its south of the river. Will have to be central and if they can move a few roads in East Perth, plonk it there. They have built apartments/hotels nearby so it can be underpinned if they are prepared to pay extra, which is what the stadia taskforce said.

How has Kitchener Park fallen out of favour all of a sudden? Too scared of the Subi locals wanting to save the park?

Think its over 1.5 million and the council is on the back foot because they thought the new stadium was going to remain in Subiaco, its only been recently Barnett has distorted the plans for the 20 millionth time.

Nothing is certain in this state on this mythical beast...

The land around Burswood is owned by the government, as is the golf course - which is a public course. I don't even think there is a 'golf club' based there, other than a social one.

You got the Subiaco council right though Jeffles. Backward thinking inner city NIMBY minded tossers who have made it their business to give footy fans the shits for at least the last 20 years. They're part of the reason as to why Subiaco Oval is in such a sh*t position.

She looked and sounded like she'd battle to name the two home teams that play at Subi.

Also they don't think the world exists outside of Subiaco...

That $65,000 could have been put toward vital council services, such as paying someone to lean on a shovel next to a hole, or use a walky talky to communicate between 2 people holding stop/slow signs, or urban planners.

Good to see local councils concentrating on the important stuff.

Eh my Dad is a Steel Estimator for a local engineering firm. The City of Perth have spent $500,000 for three metal trees on the foreshore for CHOGM.

Sometimes I wonder why we bitch about GST payments...$500,000 toilets, $500,000 Steel Trees and $65,000 for a wankfest website for a wankfest council.

Give it to Tasmania who are about to have to sack 200 Police Officers due to a budget shortfall...

^^ From the above article, talking about Rugby Union Sevens
The Force's current home, nib Stadium, does not have the seating or corporate and team facilities for a big international event.
It's f***ing Sevens!
