Hi I'm Jack, a long reader and first time poster.

I have noticed this year(at Origin II) and watching the Wallabies v Allblacks that the information screens have been turned off with only the video screens on, I was wondering if anybody knew why this was.

Interesting...

If they're only expecting 25-30k, then this should actually improve the atmosphere...

Sounds a lot like Perth Glory did when they moved early HAL season games to Subiaco….shifting the pitch so that it wasn’t in the middle, but more towards the three-tiered stand end of the ground. 25 to 30k in ANZ stadium probably will be a soulless cavernous atmosphere in the hugeness of ANZ :( I'm trying to learn more about RL so I'll be watching this one if its on Fox.

25-30k for a Rugby League match does not lack atmosphere. Atmosphere comes across on TV from this stadium with this sort of crowd/ The only real places where this stadium lacks atmosphere in these types of crowds are behind the post.

Great to hear that you are looking to get into Rugby League, if you need any help or have any questions, send me a PM or contact me anyway you can.

The owners offered to sell ANZ to the Government but Treasury knocked it back.

That's quite a low valuation. How much would a low-key renovation cost? ie/ no roof, no moving ends?

Its basically a 17 year lease that would be sold. $100m seems to be a reasonable price for that.

Catch for the government is that they're going to have to spend a shitload on it when they take ownership, because you can bet your ass the current 'owners' won't.

I wonder if the SCGT or AFL might make an offer?

Leasehold... yeah, why not.

Freehold on that thing is a ticking time bomb.

The capacity restriction? What do they care anyway? It's not like there's much demand for either the SCG or SFS to have an increased capacity.

Would this allow the SCGT to put a roof on the SFS?
