Discussion of a new Brisbane bid — it campaigned unsuccessfully for the 1992 Games — comes hard on the heels of IOC president Thomas Bach’s call for a fresh Australian entry for either the 2024 or 2028 Games. Bach said Australia had three cities with sufficient infrastructure in place to run a cost-efficient Games.

Although he did not name them, he clearly had in mind Melbourne (1956 host city), Sydney (2000) and Brisbane, which several times has been named by Australian Olympic Committee president John Coates as Australia’s next candidate.

The IOC allocates Games to cities, not countries but for any southeast Queensland bid to get off the ground, the federal and Queensland governments would need to give financial backing.

“It’s early days,” said Quirk. “We’ve got to get the conversation going.”

Earlier this week, former Queensland premier Peter Beattie said he had raised the possibility of a Brisbane bid with Bach’s predecessor, Jacques Rogge, in 2005 and had been advised the earliest the IOC would entertain another Australian city hosting the Games after Sydney was 2024, with 2028 a more realistic chance of success.

The obvious Fap is a potential new Olympic Stadium. The Gabba carries a hefty premium for compulsory land acquisitions, Suncorp isn't fat enough............

And then the question of who anchors it post Olympics?

The AFL can tip in $500 to keep it oval
It can host games for 5 Brisbane based NRL teams, a union side, soccer team and 1 pre-season Lions game

Brisbane will get it unless Bahrain are also bidding

Wouldn't you use this site?
http://www.qsac.com.au/

Obviously the stadium itself would need to be rebuilt though.

Their bid for 1992 was based on a 95k stadium in place of QSAC, there were to be upgradings and more venues at Chandler, the media centre was to be at South Bank and the village at Boondall.

There was a 2012 article about it:-

The AFL could chip in to make the swimming pool oval shaped

Hindmarsh was redeveloped for the Olympic soccer tournament for 2000. I wonder how much love would be shared this time round. Or could they try to go in house this time. Suncorp, Robina, the main stadium, maybe only one more boutique (which would be very useful post olympics).

I forgot Ballymore.

Whether or not Brisbane/Gold Coast host the entire tournament would probably come down to market saturation, rather than having enough suitable grounds.
