What, would you have preferred? nib Park? nib Place? nib Field? nib Ground? nib Square?

And now we can call it nibs or in slang, Nibbsie. Off to the see the Glory at Nibsies.

Also now the title for this thread is completely wrong, well except for the for part. 31,000 for MES --> 25,000 for nibS

The state government has signed a 50 year lease at NIB Stadium from the Town of Vincent. It means construction will start in 2012.

Very, very interesting that a State Government has to lease off a Council.

This from the person who quite passionately argued that a state government has no power to take jurisdiction for planning assessment from the truly mightiest level of government, the local government bureaucrat.

If I did, I apologise. Because I have no idea at all about planning assessments.

Obviously the state government was able to give a pile of cash to lease the land.

Any idea what this redevelopment will look like?

I'm hoping that they'll do it properly and move the pitch in the middle of the 'old' Perth oval and build around. The grandstands and pitch are too much to one side of the ground. Surely, this would limit any future development.

Apparently its only going to be 86 million dollars.

So a few seats will be added to the eastern grandstand.

Nice video there. But how about the 'example' stadiums they use about halfway through!

In the video Barnett says that $80M is for the first stage of a fully enclosed rectangular stadium on that site. Will be good to see some renders of what it will look like ultimately.

Buddy you shouldn't be surprised, ya know we hate spending money on stadiums, always have and will into the future.

Interesting that the Sunday Times had an article saying all 16 clubs want a Perth side in the comp. Apparently it was a non binding vote though...

And it comes down to numbers. They won't let them in if the TV grant has to be cut as a result.

Nevertheless, this is the best news for them thus far. The NRL won't admit one team on their oen becuae you'd still have 8 games per week. Introducing two at once will increase the number of games on TV.
