Etihad Stadium to be renamed Marvel Stadium

Melbourne’s Etihad Stadium has a new naming-rights sponsor, with the 55,000-capacity Docklands venue to be known as Marvel Stadium as of September 1, 2018. The 18-year-old venue has had three previous names. It opened in 2000 as Colonial Stadium before changing to Telstra Dome in 2002. Etihad took o...

Re: Perth's new stadium and unicorns

Plenty of people were saying Optus Stadium’s 60k capacity was too small and they deserved more. But plenty of empty seats at the first AFL game and plenty more at the NRL double header suggest maybe it’s the right size?

Re: Manly ask for $50m for new stadium.

And the latest in the ongoing Sydney stadiums saga is NRL broadcasters now want to see more games at surburban grounds so viewers don't have to put up with bays and bays of empty seats at ANZ & Allianz. I wonder if they'll ever sort this out? Maybe understand NRL will never attract big crowds an...

Re: WACA Redevelopment

I think it's a smart move - Perth does need a smaller ground once the new stadium opens and Subi is demolished. It has been in the works for some time I believe.

This was the only photo I could find:

Re: Australia to bid for 2023 women's soccer world cup

Is a good event to bid for. And at least the Matilda's have a chance :)

Will be interesting to see if they base the bid on one state, a few cities, the east coast, or country-wide.

Website issues

Hi all, if you're regularly visiting Austadiums, you'll most likely be receiving frustrating errors - they auto-refresh the page to load correctly, but it's still painful and frustrating! I've tried a number of things to get this resolved but so far, no luck. So, I'm looking to move across to better...

The less heard about this, the better. Eddie's idea, no one else's. Will never happen. The comments on austadiums facebook say it all. And don't forget to vote on the news article on the homepage.

Re: Is there a future for ANZ Stadium?

Still the potential for AFL finals games at the venue. That contract expires at the end of 2016.
Sydney Thunder play their Big Bash games next door at Spotless Stadium.

Lucky they completed those renovations under the grandstand recently! Right decision though.

Were any design plans unveiled on Wednesday? I've been out of the country but I can't find anything on the net..

Auckland Stadiums

Earlier today, I was reading articles from about 1-2 years ago regarding the future of stadiums in Auckland. This is what I picked up: - QBE Stadium (North Harbour) to become the main venue for Rugby League, Union & Soccer for crowds of up to 25k - new roof to be built over the western stand and...

I'm not a massive fan of it. But it is a sport, as is boxing. It's real.
Something like WWE is entertainment.

Re: Australian Sport Attendance Records

Sport. Added. Cheers! http://www.austadiums.com/sport/crowds.php Although it's a world record UFC crowd, I think they're slightly disappointed with that. Etihad Stadium reportedly had a capacity of around 70,000 for the event, so about 14k short of capacity. Was the second-largest sports* attendance...

Remember this proposal. They were looking to move into a new purpose-built 12,000-seat stadium in time for the 2016/17 season. http://resources3.news.com.au/images/2014/02/17/1226829/432447-cf91e9f4-977f-11e3-a5ad-5f99c6c437b4.jpg http://www.foxsports.com.au/football/a-league/wellington-phoenix-need...
